Aliganj police arrests two burglars

Aliganj police claims to have solved the burglary which took place at Vigyanpur in Mahanagar with the arrest of two persons. The police have recovered jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 6,500 cash from the accused.

LUCKNOW: Aliganj police claims to have solved the burglary which took place at Vigyanpur in Mahanagar with the arrest of two persons. The police have recovered jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 6,500 cash from the accused.
The burglars were identified as Ranjeet alias Rangeela, a resident of Aliganj, and Govind Rajput alias Chikna, a native of Kanpur and residing in a rented house in Aliganj.

The police said Ranjeet and Govind used to do the recce of houses, especially one which were locked, posing as a painter and plumber. After identifying their target, they used to strike in the night by breaking open the locks. The duo would only steal jewellery and cash.
They then used to sell the ornaments to jewellers. Efforts were being made to nab other members of the gang, the police said.
